Johnnie Harper and Delsie Buckmaster were married in September 1923 in Sydney, Texas. They were married while sitting in a buggy. The ceremony was performed by Samuel Hurt (Clint Hurt's paternal Grandfather.) Johnnie and Delsie went to the State Fair in Dallas, Texas for their honeymoon. They lived in a railroad house in East Texas. One day while Johnnie was at work Delsie had a miscarriage. She buried the baby in a matchbox.
